Wedding-themed party or fake marriages are becoming popular among young Indians

When you think of a big fat Indian marriage, what does it come to mind?

Bright lamps, shiny outfits, Bollywood hits, a grand spread of food and soaked atmosphere in the festival. Everything feels fantastic, emotional and bigger than life.

Now imagine all of them without the bride and groom. Any round (Hindu marriage rituals where couples take seven fees around a sacred fire), no relatives, no tears. Just party.

Welcome to the fake wedding world – in Indian cities where people gather together to enjoy a wedding party, real marriage.

These ticket events organized by hotels, clubs and companies are fully designed for entertainment and any stress, rituals or responsibilities. Simply put, this is the party with a wedding-the-way party.

For the past few weeks, fake weddings have been splashing in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Attendees are usually involved in playing the night with young people friends, and the traditional Indian wedding is fun without pressure.

Last week, we attended such a cuurated event in Delhi – a fake music (A music is a night of music and dance that is usually held a few days before the wedding).

In this program, organized at a Plus Club, Vib Electric: Sequin Sarees and Lehengas (Long Skirts and Blouse) showed women in the kurtas and ethnic jackets created by men. The traditional drum drummer took the crowd to the dance floor and hit the tummy-filled round gaps (a popular Indian street snack).

Shivangi Sareen, who attended the event for the first time, found it “amazing”.

Shivangi Sarane, right that fake music was an unforgettable experience

“In the family wedding, there is a lot of pressure – the rules around the costume, the decisions (from relatives). But here, the only fun is,” she said. “Especially because with our friends we had to do all this with our friends. We decided our costume next day and got together.”

Ticket prices usually start from about 1,500 rupees ($ 17; £ 13) and can go up to Rs 15,000 or more depending on events and facilities. Shivangi and her friends paid Rs 10,000 for each couple to attend.

“I don’t mind spending it once a month. The whole experience was completely beneficial.”

Sharad Madan, owner of the restaurant, organizing the event, says that this trend is innovative in the underlined area.

They said, “We have to keep doing something new for our patrons.

Mr. Madan says that it has to spend about one million rupees to plan and organize the program, and the team expects to double the ticket sales. But they are not just about profit, they say.

“It’s about commitment. Even if it doesn’t give me the same way to me, I will do it because your guards want something different.”

Kaushal Channi, co-founder of 8Club event, which was present in Bangalore last month, said that the inspiration for the fake marriage came from the young Indians who lived abroad.

He said, “People in Diespora enjoyed Bollywood music, traditional (traditional) clothes and enjoying evening.” “We followed this idea.”

He says the response to the Bengaluru program organized at the five -star hotel was “tremendous”. As a result, they encouraged them to plan a similar incident in Delhi – and they started getting queries from event organizers in other cities like Jaipur, Kolkata and Lucknow.

He says, “We now give our standard operating process (SOP) who are interested in,” he says. “How to create an experience, how to create a market, and how to make it beneficial is the guide.”

However, not all fake marriages follow the same script.

These events are designed to look like a real wedding as close as possible

Third place, an experience-based start-up, recently a quiet hosted Music In Bengaluru – not alcohol, just a theme celebration.

CEO Anurag Pandey said, “We divided the attendees to the teams and the bride’s teams and guessed who is in organized sports and relatives like Charde,” said Chief Executive Officer Anurag Pandey.

There was a drum drum, a grand welcome for all the guests and even astrotic-theater games. Alcohol was consciously released.

“Sometimes the old age was away from the experience,” said Mr. Pandey. “We just wanted to do more than just a pub night or regular acquisition. We wanted to show the spirit of an Indian marriage.”

Commentators say the popularity of these events reflects the growing desire to find the reasons for celebrating young people.

“There is a kind of hook to celebrate people. And there is no better setting than a marriage, which brings together all the elements of entertainment,” says the author and social commentator Santosh Desai.

“It is the pinnacle of enjoying it – especially when it is free from stress with real weddings.”

In the past, these events have given people the reason to re -wear expensive wedding dresses earlier purchased.

So, are such incidents to live here?

Delhi -based Event Planner Vijay Arora, the founder of the Touchwood Events, believes that a fake wedding is currently a fad – but one with probability.

“General Z has certainly wanted to be part of such festivals,” he said.

“If it emerges as a new market, it can be a major game changer because the scale will grow – which eventually enhances business opportunities for the entire industry.”

India’s wedding industry Is estimated to be approximately $ 130 billionInvestment Advisor Company Right Research.

There are problems with this area, with prosperity. Most of the weddings take place in the cold months – usually between November to March – and often in auspicious time, the monsoon season (June to August) is considered the off -season.

The location is free, sellers are available and people are constantly chasing experiences, fake marriage distances can be filled up if they take trends.

Shri Arora says that they were surprised by the rise of fake marriage.

“But it also helps to understand that such events are to celebrate or want to be a part of it. Even if we cannot attend the actual events of our friends or family hosts, we want to join them by joining these fake people.”

However, not every guest is happy.

Some fake wedding events include games with tarot readings or astrologers-themes

The 23-year-old Bangalore-based marketing businessman Mrs Sharma said she was disappointed with the only fake marriage she was present.

She said, “I have been away from home for a few years now and I really missed the marriage,” she said.

“The biggest plus is that ‘you are ahead to get married’,” Relatives were not harassing relatives. “

Ms. Sharma and her friends spent hours in choosing the costume, but the event was short.

“They started with the EDM and switched to Bollywood after two hours,” she said.

“We expect a wedding meal but pizza and fries – no dessert, just alcohol. The decoration was basic and lazy.”

Some have criticized these events by saying that they can come as a trivial form of traditional Indian events and values.

But Kapoor does not agree with the ritual present in fake music in Delhi.

She said, “People would have been asked to dress like a bride or groom, but here there is only one party, you should take it with a higher spirit,” she said.
