My MIL Disrespected Me After I Gave Birth, and Sparked a Family Fight / Bright Side

Welcome, Bright sideand

My name is Angela. I am a new mother. My child is 7 weeks. After birth, I moved with my father for support. It is normal for Filipino families to help the new mother, and my parents were more than Raghan.

But when my husband’s family arrived, Melly looked at my face and cut off, “You cannot continue playing the helpless princess. It has been a long time enough. You cannot lie on the bed all day.” I tried to explain that it is normal for our culture. The family helps the new mother, and still recover.

But she continued, “This is nonsense. You can not only use culture as an excuse to be lazy. The child’s father needs help as well, and you only allow him to carry the burden.”

When my husband heard this, he turned to me and said: “That’s good. I know you need time. My mother, you need to respect my wife’s needs. If you can’t do it, you may have to leave.”

She only caught her bag and left. Later, I called my husband and said they bought tickets to their hometown, and they did not want to stay with us anymore because we do not respect them.

I really feel bad. I love to talk to her and discover things, but I have no time, and I am very tired of this. Is it really my responsibility? What is the right thing to do?
