Next opponent Ryan Garcia: De La Hoya controls Rolly Romero II, Teofimo Lopez eyes

The Oscar de la Hoya promoter has ruled out the wear of Ryan Garcia’s second -reading vs Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero next. Garcia (24-2, 20 ko) needs to be fought more, one that will interest boxing fans.

De la Hoya says that Garcia-Romero fighting on May 2nd on Times Square is too boring for him to make a second fight between them. In fact, the fighting was one of the quietest on that card.

From the Hoya on Garcia-Romero II

“No, I’m not really, Because the first fight is a boring battle. When you’re a champion and you’re trying to make re -formulation, this is because people want to see it, ”said the Oscar de la Hoya promoter to Dazn Boxing when asked last Saturday whether he wants to make a second chance of Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero.

Why would Oscar want to make a re -send Garcia vs Romero 2? Ryan will probably lose poorly, and would not bring the type of PPV buying in which other fights like re -sent with Devin Haney or conflict against Teofimo Lopez.

Rolly Romero’s low engagement

Rolly is not a PPV attraction, and lack of his ability to sell his fight. We saw how Romero was disengaged During his press conferences to promote his first battle with Ryan Garcia last May. He had very little to say and was equally bad for giving interviews in the run -up to the fighting. This was just before the fighting.

The real pulley had few steps with Rolly fighting in a compact spin, throwing one punch at a time, and afraid to mix it. Romero should have been attacking Garcia because he had no offense at all.

“The first fighting wasn’t that interesting. The first fighting wasn’t a big deal. So I think there were other opponents out there for Ryan. There are other big names out there, other big fights we can do with people like Teofimo and other fighters out there. First things first, Ryan needs to be in big health,” said De La Hoya.

If this is the final battle of Ryan’s contract with Golden Boy, you can’t blame De La Hoya for focusing on wanting to get him maximum money. Romero is not a battle that will hit her out of the park in terms of revenue. He would be a non-participation, useless to promote the fighting, and would bring in poor PPV numbers.
