The lazy approach: Richardson Hitchins tries to speed up his career to fight Lopez or Haney quickly

Richardson Hitchins still says Teofimo Lopez is his targets in 140, and if he can’t get it, he’ll move up and go after Devin Haney. He believes that is the fight that will turn him into an overnight star. That’s why Hitchins want to fight them immediately.

Hitchins wants a big fight now

Unlike Teofimo and Haney, who won their place by defeating Vasily Lomachenko, Hitchins does not believe he must do so. Beating George Kambosos Jr. was enough in his mind.

IBF Hitchins lightweight welter weight champion (20-0, 8 kos) wants the big fighting immediately. He believes his victory over Kambosos Jr. puts him in a position to fight like Teofimo and Haney. However, none of those guys have mentioned his fighting. Hitchins’ fighting style is too boring; It moves too much and grabs without -stop. Teofimo and Haney don’t want to fight men like that.

Richardson has put the cart in front of the horse in trying to get the big fight before he first built himself by facing the killers. This is the lazy approach, the one we see from firefighters who want the big money to fight immediately and do not want to win the hard road for them.

Hitchins need to fight competitors

The Brooklyn, New York Native Hitchins do not want to fight against Ernesto Mercado, Gary Antuanne Russell, Subriel Matias, or Alberto Puello. Richardson, 27, wants the big fighting without having to work for them. Apart from his reluctance to take the fighting in the building, Hitchins shot himself in the foot by choosing not to re-sign with Eddie Hearn. He announced to the fans and media that he was a free agent after winning over Kambosos JR on June 14th.

Hitchins assumed that there would be a crazy rush for his services. That has not happened, and it is a foolish movement that had his back, as he looks like an act of betrayal on his behalf. He also did not realize that his fighting style is not sufficiently appealing to make him a free agent.

“Yes, I’d go up to 147 and would target Devin Haney. It makes sense. I and him have a history. It’s not a big puncher, and it’s a fresh guy of 140,” Richardson Hitchins said to the Chris Mannix channel. “It’s not too much adjustment, I have to make from 140.

Teofimo Lopez is unlikely to fight

Hitchins needs to go up to 147 now. If he is not going to fight against Matias, Mercado, or Russell, he is not going to increase his popularity from cherry dishwasher. Teofimo never goes to fight it. He should have already realized that.

“It would solidify my name more in boxing for a big win like that. I would beat it too, and it would make sense,” said Hitchins. “When I go up to 147, I want Devin Haney, Brian Norman, and Mario Barrios. I feel I am one of the best fighters in the sport at the moment. (Haney) is not better than me.”

So, Hitchins wants the big fighting immediately in 147 without having to work for him. Again, he has this sense of right, believing that he should have the big fighting without working for them as other fighters do.

Hitchins trail to fight big

If he moves up, he needs to fight against the main competitors to win his place, and not expect him to be given him just because he is a paper champion at 140. Hitchins should have to fight these competitors at the weight of a welter to win a fight against Haney, Norman Jr., and Barrios:

  • Rohan Polanco
  • Shakhram Giyasov
  • Karen Chukhadzhian
  • Jack Catterall
  • Raul curiel

“We have our eye on Teofimo Lopez, especially with us having the same manager, Keith Connolly,” said Hitchins. “Shakur tried to boost anywhere and try to intrude. He tries to make the teofimo fight. There is no clear direction where we can go next, but Teofimo Lopez is a struggle that I think we can make it happen.”

It doesn’t matter that Hitchins and Teofimo share the same manager. Teo is still not going to fight it, because there is no money in it, and it has that old style of Fight Mayweather of fighting. Hitchins fights too much like him and Shakur Stevenson for Lopez to want to bless him with fighting, and he must go after him around.

“It’s a fantasy battle for me. Two men in New York. Hopefully we can make it happen in Brooklyn. I think it will be a big event. With my personality and its personality coming together, it will be a great battle,” said Hitchins.
