TSMC gets a 100 % comfort of Trump’s tariffs thanks to its American factories, says Taiwan

The semiconductor manufacturer in Taiwan is the largest contract to manufacture contracts in the world for NVIDIA and Apple and Apple among its customers.

“Since the main source of Taiwan is TSMC, which contains factories in the United States, TSMC is exempt,” Leo Chen Qing, President of the National Development Council, Liu Cheng, told a press conference in Parliament.

Leo said that some of the Taiwanese makers “will be affected” by 100 % tariff, but their competitors will face the same tax.

“Taiwan is currently occupying a pioneering position in the world and I think that if the leader and competitors are on the same start line, the leader will continue to lead,” Liu said.

“This is our current initial assessment, but we will continue to monitor and suggest the short and medium -term assistance.”

Liu was speaking hours after Trump at the White House said, “We will put a large tariff on chips and semi -conductors.”

Trump told reporters that the level would be “100 %.”

Trump said that companies that were “built in the United States, or committed to construction” will not be imposed on it.

Taiwan is a global force in the manufacture of semiconductors, with more than half of the world’s chips and almost all of the high -end that was made there.

TSMC was at the Trump intersection, who accused Taiwan of stealing the American chips industry.

There have been hopes for an additional $ 100 billion in investment plan in the United States that would protect Taiwan from a new tariff.

Taiwan has also pledged to increase investment in the United States, buy more American energy and enhance defense spending for more than three percent of GDP in an attempt to get rid of Trump deposits.

Trump has imposed a 20 % temporary tariff on Taiwan, with the exception of semiconductors, where American and Taiwan negotiators are trying to get rid of a deal.
